The Ministry of Transport is inviting Chatham Islanders and key stakeholders to share their views on what they see as important factors for a new shipping service to the Chatham Islands.
This survey asks about the importance of different aspects of the service, including the frequency of the service; vessel capacity; reliability; affordability, and ownership interests. It also asks for feedback on proposals received from the Ministry’s recent Request for Proposals (RfP).
You can find the survey at the link below, or pick up a hard copy at the Council offices. There is an opportunity to give general feedback at the end of the survey. Feedback received will be considered as part of our recommendations to Government – so please ensure you have your say before 9 July 2025.

To support your engagement and answer any questions you may have, the Ministry of Transport are hosting two live Q&A sessions. These sessions will provide an opportunity to learn more about the consultation, ask questions, and share your perspectives.
Both sessions will be held online via Microsoft Teams. Sessions will also be broadcast in the Chatham Islands Council chambers.
