Wastewater overflow - beach closed

Sadly, the wastewater pump near the Waitangi Wharf at the Owenga Road – Hospital Road intersection has failed, which has resulted in a wastewater discharge to the beach.

This means:

• The beach is closed until further notice due to the presence of untreated wastewater
• It is advised not to collect or eat shellfish from the beach until further notice.
