Water Supply

The Chatham Islands Council is responsible for providing and maintaining an adequate supply of potable water to consumers and supply for fire fighting.

The Council is currently investigating funding sources to address water supply issues on the Chatham Islands. Work has already begun on a preliminary design report for Kaingaroa in conjunction with further geological investigations for Waitangi, Owenga and Te One.

Key activities involve operating a public water supply that services the greater Waitangi area and also provides fire fighting capability in this area.
