The Strategy and Plan become operative as from 1 July 2008, subject to funding through the Annual Plan and Long Term Council Community Plan processes. Every year, the Operational Plan will be reviewed, and an Operational Report prepared to keep track of progress. Copies of the Plan can be viewed at or purchased from the Council.

The Council is working with other parties involved in the movement of people and freight to the Chatham Islands to prevent pests new to the Chatham Islands from impacting on our economy and unique environment. The Biosecurity Strategy is a first step towards establishing an internal border between New Zealand and the Chatham Islands.
